HOUSTON, TX (KTRK) – Two children are safe after their sitting car was stolen overnight.
According to Houston Police, the incident occurred on Edgemoor, just south of Bellaire in Sharpstown.
The woman’s ex-boyfriend was waiting for them when the 4- and 5-year-old children and their mother returned home, according to HPD.
According to police, the mother and her ex-boyfriend got into a physical altercation. At some point, the woman’s current boyfriend became involved as well.
During the fight, the ex-boyfriend allegedly got into the woman’s car and drove away, leaving the children inside.
“The suspect was actively texting someone known to the complainant. So we knew he had children in his care. At the time, he was looking for a location where he could return the children while avoiding police presence, “Lieutenant F. Croft stated.
The man driving the stolen car was spotted by a police helicopter—officers located and apprehended the suspect.
The children were discovered in the vehicle and were unharmed, according to HPD.
The children have no relation to the ex-boyfriend accused of abducting them, according to police.
