Following Friday morning’s crash that killed an LVMPD officer, the Las Vegas Police Protective Association (LVPPA) issued a statement.
(FOX5) – LAS VEGAS, Nev. According to Nevada State Police, a driver driving a tractor-trailer carrying a large piece of construction equipment was traveling southbound on the US 95 freeway when he collided with a metal beam while passing under the overpass. That metal beam then struck a silver sedan trailing behind the tractor-trailer.
On-site medical personnel declared the male car driver dead, according to Nevada State Police. The LVPPA confirmed to FOX5 that the person killed was a Las Vegas Metropolitan Police officer.
Police also stated that the tractor-trailer driver is cooperating with them as they conduct their investigation. A fire has been reported in Las Vegas fatal crash on the US-95 at the Centennial Parkway exit Friday morning after a construction beam fell on top of a vehicle.
NDOT stated that they intend to replace the beam but will need to assess the impact on the Centennial Bowl construction. According to NDOT, the height limit for going under this overpass is 15 feet, and people driving oversized trucks should exercise caution when passing through this area.
