Wednesday night in Lake County, a deputy was responding to a suspected alcohol-related collision when a Waukegan man crashed into a squad car, resulting in charges of DUI.
According to Lake Forest police, at approximately 10:35 p.m., a 2022 Ford Explorer was speeding south on Route 41 when it crossed Route 60 and swerved into a traffic control device at the intersection, ejecting both of the car’s occupants.
According to officials, both individuals suffered significant injuries and were taken to nearby hospitals.

A 2015 GMC SUV was heading south on Route 41 at Deerpath on Thursday at 1:12 a.m. when it collided with a Lake County Sheriff’s Office squad car that was helping with traffic management at the scene of the initial collision.
When the collision occurred, the deputy was inside the vehicle and was treated at Lake Forest Hospital.
According to authorities, 22-year-old Aaron Buckley, the driver of the GMC, was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated.
The charges against him included operating a vehicle without insurance, disobeying Scott’s Law, and felony counts of aggravated DUI and unauthorized possession of a handgun.

It was anticipated that Buckley would be brought to the Lake County Jail on Thursday in preparation for his first court appearance.
According to officials, charges against the individuals involved in the first accident have not yet been filed and their identities have not been made public.
