Lake County Deputies Attacked and Bitten by Teen Suspects

Lake County deputies faced a tense and challenging situation when they responded to a domestic battery call in unincorporated Antioch.

The incident took place on Grass Lake Road, where a 17-year-old boy was accused of repeatedly assaulting a family member.

Teens’ Arrest Turns Violent

As deputies attempted to arrest the 17-year-old boy, a 17-year-old girl intervened, leading to a violent struggle. The girl tried to grab a deputy’s baton, while the boy bit another deputy’s arm.

Although the boy briefly managed to break free, deputies quickly subdued him. During the altercation, he continued to resist arrest, even assaulting one of the deputies.

Legal Consequences and Ongoing Investigation

In response to the incident, the Lake County Sheriff’s Office promptly took both juveniles into custody and initiated an investigation.

The 17-year-old boy now faces multiple charges in juvenile court, including four counts of aggravated battery to a peace officer, four counts of resisting arrest causing injury, and aggravated domestic battery.

Charges against the girl are pending as the investigation progresses. Fortunately, neither deputy sustained injuries during the confrontation.

This incident highlights the complexities and challenges that law enforcement officers can encounter when responding to domestic violence cases involving teenagers.
