The Florida Highway Patrol reports that a collision that occurred on Sunday afternoon in Lake County resulted in the death of a Leesburg man who was 94 years old.
At approximately 4:13 p.m., the fatal collision took place close to the intersection of U.S. 27 and Plantation Boulevard, according to the state police.
A Chevrolet Malibu was making its way southbound on United States Route 27 as it approached Plantation Boulevard in the inside lane, as stated in the report after the collision.

A Subaru Forester was heading eastward on Plantation Boulevard at the same time, and it was attempting to make a left turn in order to travel north on U.S. 27.
According to the state police, the Malibu, which was being driven by a man from Leesburg who was 32 years old, was unable to come to a halt in time for the traffic signal.

After that, the front of the Malibu allegedly collided with the left side of the Forester, as stated in the report. The driver of the Forester, who was 94 years old, was transported to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The collision is still being looked at by authorities.
