After leading police on a high-speed chase that resulted in a two-vehicle accident on Tuesday afternoon, a guy accused of stealing a car at gunpoint was m*rdered, according to Kerrville police.
At around 1:48 pm, police were alerted to a carjacking attempt in a parking lot of a commercial building on the 1200 block of Junction Highway.
Two minutes later, someone reported that a man had taken their 2022 Honda vehicle from the same parking lot by dialing 911.
A number of KPD officers arrived at the scene and saw the stolen car speeding down Sidney Baker North, according to the police. Officers attempted to pull over the car, but the driver evaded them. A 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck and a Honda later collided in the 1800 block of Sidney Baker North.

According to police, the car’s stolen driver died. The pickup’s 64-year-old driver was transferred to a Kerrville hospital before being flown by helicopter to a hospital in San Antonio. There was no information on the man’s health.
KPD has opened an inquiry into the carjacking and collision.
