A two-car collision in the 900 block of Southern Avenue on Saturday morning resulted in the death of one individual, according to the Wood County Sheriff’s Office.
James Kiggans, whose age and residence are unknown, was killed. He was a passenger in a 2022 Mitsubishi Eclipse being driven by William Rankin when he tried to avoid colliding with a 2011 Ford Ranger being driven by Daniel Stewart, 37, according to a post made by the sheriff’s office on Facebook.
According to the sheriff’s office, Stewart struck the Eclipse while traveling south in the northbound lane. According to the sheriff’s office, Stewart “was found to show signs of impairment from alcohol.”
Stewart was placed under arrest on a $300,000 bond issued by Magistrate Robin Waters after being accused of DUI causing death.

According to the sheriff’s office, the Wood County Crash Team is still looking into the crash, and more charges are not yet available. Around 1:30 a.m., the incident happened.
The Mineral Wells Volunteer Fire Department, the Parkersburg Police Department, the Sheriff’s Office, and ambulances from St. Joseph Ambulance Services and Camden Clark Medical Center were among the agencies that responded.
