In Shilington, Officers and an Armed Man Exchange Shots; Police are Investigating

Virginia’s capital city of ARLINGTON — Officers from the Arlington County Police Department shot and killed a masked guy with a gun in Shirlington in Arlington, Virginia on Friday night.

At around 7:30 p.m., officers from the Arlington County Police Department went to the 2100 block of Shirlington Rd. for a complaint of shots fired. As police arrived, they engaged the armed man in gunfire near a cluster of townhouses.

The criminal suspect was taken to a nearby hospital. Preliminary findings from the inquiry show that no police officers were hurt during the gunfight.

Shirlington Road in Arlington Shutdown

All lanes of traffic on Shirlington Road in Arlington have been shut down between 21st and 24th Roads due to police action not far from S Glebe Road. Please find an other route if you can.

Less than a week before to this incident, a man led police on a high-speed pursuit through Arlington and Fairfax counties, during which he fired many shots before being apprehended.

The regional Critical Incident Response Team has been tasked with investigating the incident under the direction of Chief Charles “Andy” Penn.
