On Wednesday, authorities said that a security guard at a mall in the Chicago region was shot and killed. According to police, two males attempted to rob a jewelry store at the mall but were stopped by a guard. The thieves brandished guns and fired off multiple shots.
Police have started the investigation
The River Oaks Center shooting happened in Calumet City at about lunchtime. The guard was taken to the hospital, where he tragically passed away. Calumet City spokesman Sean Howard stated that about 20 individuals were inside the mall at the time of the incident and that police were working to question them.
According to Calumet City Police Chief Kevin Kolosh, a second guy was treated for a minor hand injury at the scene. About 20 cops were training in a building next to the mall when the incident occurred, according to Kolosh.Just 22 miles south of Chicago is the town of Calumet City.
