Hundreds Commemorate Exonerated Central Park Gate Near Harlem. Five Teens Jailed for 1989 Rape

“The Gate of the Exonerated” will remember how the Central Park Five were attacked and raped in 1989.

“The Gate of the Exonerated” will be on 110th Street between Fifth Avenue and Malcom X Blvd. at the north end of Central Park.

Another guy confessed to the Central Park rape, and his DNA matched the scene.
2002 cleared the guys and awarded them $41 million.

Central Park Conservancy spokeswoman: “Today’s unanimous vote commemorates the Exonerated Five and other unfairly condemned people.”

The Central Park Conservancy has worked with the Harlem neighbourhood for over 40 years, and we are happy to have brought the Gate of the Exonerated to life in a manner that shows Central Park is for everyone.
