Harker Heights, Texas – The Harker Heights-Belton SWAT team has arrested one person in connection with a shooting that left one person dead early July 31.
Harker Heights-Belton Police SWAT team arrested Jeremiah Lane Mitchell Saturday on a warrant related to the murder of Skyler Mills of Harker Heights.
According to a release issued by the Harker Heights Police Department, Jeremiah Lane Mitchell, 20, of Killeen, was arrested Saturday on a warrant related to the incident. Mitchell was arraigned on a $1,100,000 bond today by Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson and is currently being held in custody at the Bell County Jail.
Mitchell, 20, is in the Bell County Jail on charges of Capital Murder and Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
Officers discovered Skyler Mills, 24, had been shot after getting a call about shots fired on July 31st, 2021.

At approximately 3:46 a.m., officers were dispatched to 400 Block of Brittney Way related to a domestic disturbance call. Upon arrival at the residence, officers discovered the body of Skyler Mills at the scene.
A witness at the scene described seeing a man fleeing the scene after a verbal altercation with Skyler Mills.
Mills succumbed to her injuries and Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson pronounced her deceased at 5:59 a.m. on scene.
According to a police report, the Harker Heights Police Criminal Investigations Division is looking for a
person of interest described as a black male, approximately 5’-08” to 5’-10” in height, around 180lbs to 200 lbs, dreadlocks hairstyle, last seen wearing a black hoodie, gray sweatpants, and possibly driving a silver or white Mercedes Benz sedan.
Justice of the Peace Gregory Johnson arraigned the 20-year-old Sunday. His bail is $1,000,000 for Capital Murder and $100,000 for Aggravated Assault with a deadly weapon.
