A trooper with the Georgia State Patrol tried to stop a fleeing car with a tactical driving technique early Friday morning.
But the move backfired, throwing two individuals from the vehicle and killing them.
After a high-speed pursuit across three downtown Atlanta freeways ended in a wreck on I-20 East. The trooper reportedly used the tactic known as a PIT manoeuvre.
At the scene, both of the people in the fleeing car were declared dead.

A GSP official said the pursuit started before daybreak when a trooper from the criminal suppression team tried to pull over a white Jeep Grand Cherokee for speeding on I-85 North near Cleveland Avenue.
According to the spokesman, one of the passengers leaped out of the Jeep before it took off northbound on the Downtown Connector.
The GSP says that the car then got back on the Downtown Connector and went south. It eventually got off the Downtown Connector and onto I-20 East, where the PIT manoeuvre was done.

The two unidentified accident victims were treated by emergency personnel, the official added. The police found an automatic rifle at the site.
The Georgia State Patrol’s accident reconstruction experts and the Georgia Office of Professional Standards are still looking into the fatal collision. On Friday, it was unclear whether the Jeep’s third passenger had been found.
