WASHINGTON (A.P.) — On Tuesday, reports that a plane carrying migrants was headed to President Joe Biden’s home state of Delaware. That caused chaos in three states and drew public condemnation from the White House.

However, the plane – and the migrants – never arrived.

“At this time, we have no reports of anyone arriving,” Jill Fredel of the Delaware Department of Health and Social Services said. After officials waited for hours for the plane to arrive at Delaware Coastal Airport in Sussex County.

The perplexing drama was the latest chapter in an ongoing feud between Biden and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis. Which has dominated headlines and drawn attention to Biden’s border policies.

DeSantis, a Republican expected to run for president in 2024. He has threatened to send migrants apprehended at the border to “sanctuary jurisdictions” across the country.

He followed through on his threat last week. By flying 48 Venezuelans from San Antonio to Martha’s Vineyard on two private planes. When they arrived, the Venezuelan migrants told reporters. That they had been duped by people who falsely promised them jobs and accessible housing. On Tuesday, they filed a class-action lawsuit against DeSantis and other officials, seeking unspecified damages.

Opinion: Ron DeSantis’ Stunt

Ron DeSantis’ Martha’s Vineyard stunt is cruel and serves no purpose by using migrants as human pawns.

Another plane was scheduled to leave Texas on Tuesday. Then fly to the Delaware Coastal Airport, about 20 miles west of Biden’s vacation home in Rehoboth Beach. Flight plans filed late Monday showed the plane flying from San Antonio to Delaware. With a brief stop in Crestview, Florida.

But Precisely What Happened Is Unknown

As of 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, the plane had not left Texas. Though Delaware Gov. John Carney’s spokesperson Emily David Hershman said the governor’s office was aware of the reports. They prepared for the possible arrival.

USA TODAY Network reporters and photographers searched for the plane in Texas and Florida. There was no takeoff. No plane landed.

Later, officials stated that no plane was expected.

On August 11, 2022, migrants who boarded a bus in Texas listened to volunteers offering assistance after being dropped off near the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC.

On August 11, 2022, migrants who boarded a bus in Texas listened to volunteers offering assistance after being dropped off near the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC. Since April, Texas Governor Greg Abbott has ordered buses to transport thousands of migrants from Texas to Washington, D.C., and New York City to draw attention to criticisms of U.S. President Joe Biden’s border policy.

Officials in Okaloosa County, Florida, where the plane was to make a brief stop, said they do not receive passenger manifests for flights such as the one reportedly bound for Delaware. County spokeswoman April Sarver stated that the county is not even permitted to request such documents.

She claims that much of what officials learn comes from the public, which may be using apps to track flights coming in from Texas or simply spreading rumors on social media.

“We hear the rumors as well, but we don’t get anything official,” Sarver explained. “I’d appreciate it if Gov. DeSantis could call and give me a heads-up.”

‘Inhumane Acts’: Investigation  Against Gov. Ron Desantis

Massachusetts seeks human trafficking investigation into Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in connection with migrants.

Press secretary for the White House Karine Jean-Pierre said that the Biden administration was aware of reports that a plane was heading to Delaware. According to her, the White House was in “close contact” with Delaware officials but not with DeSantis or his administration.

“Our heads up did not come from Gov. DeSantis because, as he’s made quite clear, His only goal is to cause chaos and use it to his advantage immigrants fleeing communism as political pawns,” Jean-Pierre said. “So it’s all about putting on political theater for him.” It’s not about concluding.”

When asked later if DeSantis was sending migrants to Delaware, Biden told reporters, “He should come to visit.” We have a lovely coastline.”

Meanwhile, DeSantis refused to confirm to reporters in Florida whether he had ordered more Texas migrants to be sent to Delaware. However, he defended his plan to divert migrants apprehended at the border away from Florida and into “sanctuary jurisdictions” across the country.

Criticism Of Biden’S Border Security Policies

He also maintained his relentless criticism of Biden’s border security policies.

In Bradenton, DeSantis questioned why those opposing his migrant plan weren’t angry at Biden for allowing dozens of migrants to die in and around a tractor-trailer in San Antonio last June. “I didn’t hear any outrage about that,” he said.

“I don’t hear outrage about criminal aliens who have gotten through and victimized people… all over the country, but when 50 of them end up in Martha’s Vineyard, they get agitated,” DeSantis said.

Biden’s border security policies are “doing enormous harm to our country,” he said, and “nobody can deny there is a crisis.”

DeSantis said his plan came to fruition last year when he traveled to the US-Mexico border to assist Texas Gov. Greg Abbott with the border crisis.
