An adult and three children perished in a Polk County collision on Thursday night. Around 10:17 p.m., Shemikia Brown, 34, of Livingston, was traveling south on State Highway 146 in a Buick Lucerne, according to a Texas Department of Public Safety report.
Brown allegedly entered the oncoming lane close to Millgate Road and collided with a GMC Sierra. According to the DPS, Brown and the three child passengers—ages 13, 11, and 2—were pronounced deceased at the scene.
On Friday morning, Livingston ISD posted the following statement on their Facebook page on the crash:
“Lion Country mourns the loss of multiple students who passed away tragically in a car accident last night. With respect to the family’s privacy, we will release more information at a later time.”
“Please join us in keeping these students’ families and friends in your thoughts and prayers.”

According to the complaint, a 6-year-old passenger in Brown’s car received life-threatening injuries and was sent to a local hospital. There were no injuries to the GMC’s driver.
