Just after dusk on Sunday, two vehicles crashed at the intersection of State Highway 195 and Splawn Ranch Road, sending four of the occupants to nearby hospitals.
The Killeen Police Department released a statement on Monday stating that a maroon SUV was heading north on Highway 195 south of Killeen. The SUV, which had a driver and a passenger, collided with a white pickup truck that had pulled into the junction as it got closer to Splawn Ranch Road.
Witnesses reported that the SUV was driving without lights for around thirty minutes after dusk. The SUV struck the pickup truck, which had stopped before crossing the street, as it was attempting to pull into the intersection. The news statement stated that the darkness blinded the pickup driver, and he was unable to see the approaching SUV.
