Today on Saturday morning, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office announced that a body believed to be 19-year-old Miya Marcano, who has been missing for over a week, was discovered on Saturday morning,
On Saturday, deputies scoured the Tymber Skan apartments in Orange County, Florida, and discovered a body in a wooded area nearby “that we feel is that of Miya Marcano,” Sheriff John Mina said.
Marcano, a student at Valencia College, was last seen at the Arden Villas apartments complex in Orlando on September 24th.
“Although we are almost positive of the identity, the medical examiner’s office will have to confirm it. We cannot declare a cause of death at this time,” Mina said.
Mina said that Marcano’s family has been told about the discovery of her body which was found at around 10:45 a.m. today. Near the body, the officials found Marcano’s purse with her identifications on it.
Police were sent to the location after obtaining cellphone data showing that “principal suspect” Armando Caballero, 27, a maintenance worker at Arden Villas who died Monday of an apparent suicide, was in the area.
The records showed that Caballero was near Tymber Skan apartments the day Marcano went missing. Mina also said that Caballero had lived there at one time.
Authorities said that Caballero had a romantic interest in Marcano, but she did not like him. They also said that he had a key fob to get into apartments. Caballero’s key was used near Marcano’s apartment before she disappeared.
Sheriff Mina concluded by saying, “We believe Armando Caballero is solely responsible for this crime,” Sheriff Mina said Saturday.
He added, “This is not the update I wanted to give everyone. “Our hearts are broken. Everyone wanted this outcome to be different.”
