The Florida Highway Patrol said that a Leesburg man was struck and ki!!ed by a car on Friday night as he attempted to cross a road in Lake County.
According to a news release, the collision happened just west of Rhett Road on County Road 44 around 9:20 p.m.
According to troopers, a 2019 Chrysler 300 was traveling east on CR-44 as a 47-year-old man attempted to cross the street. According to investigators, the man was attempting to cross the road outside of a clearly posted crosswalk.
The victim was struck by the Chrysler and was declared deceased at the scene, according to FHP. The car’s driver and passenger sustained no injuries. The duo stayed at the crash site, according to the troopers.

Both the deceased man’s name and whether the driver will be charged as a result of the fatal collision were kept a secret by the investigators.
