JEFFERSONVILLE, Indiana —
Another Republican will elect to the 9th Congressional District in Indiana.
Erin Houchin, an Indiana senator in the 47th district since 2014, was elected on Tuesday.
She resigned from the Senate in February to concentrate on her congressional campaign.
Houchin’s top priorities include:
- Combating inflation.
- Securing the border with Mexico.
- Increasing the United States’ energy independence.
This position became available after Republican Trey Hollingsworth resigned from the House. He had previously stated that he would not serve more than four terms. In 2016, he was elected.
The district is primarily in southern Indiana, including larger cities such as Jeffersonville, New Albany, and Clarksville.
