May 2001 marked the birth of Emma Chamberlain in California. Chamberlain was born in San Bruno and raised primarily in San Mateo County. In San Carlos, California, she attended Central Middle School. Then went on to attend all-girls Catholic Notre Dame High School. While she dropped out during the first part of her junior year after starting her YouTube career, she eventually graduated after passing the High School Exit Exam in California.

Chamberlain’s first significant endorsement was for the shopping app Dote, which sponsored her for most of 2018. The company sent her everywhere from Austin, TX, to Fiji and a stable of other women with popular YouTube channels. They released a clothing line called Low Key / High Key by Emma, designed by Chamberlain. However, controversies surrounding the app eventually caused Chamberlain to sever ties with Dote near the end of 2018. The following year, in 2019, Crapeyewear hired her to promote and design a line of sunglasses.

She’s appeared in videos from both the official YouTube account and Target’s YouTube channel. Sometimes alongside celebrities such as The Office cast members and other influencers. A Vogue magazine correspondent has become a fixture at the event in various official capacities. Figure skater Adam Rippon interviewed her on ABC News Nightline in December 2019. Later that month, she launched Coffee by Chamberlain, her own mail-order coffee company.

Then she was featured on the cover of Cosmopolitan for the February 2020 issue, prompting her to post a video on YouTube titled “My First American Magazine Cover.” 

Chamberlain’s career as a YouTube and social media influencer was the issue’s cover story. Other successful YouTubers joined her in sharing their tips and tricks in another feature.
