Eddie Murphy reunited with the young girl who portrayed the lead character in his 1986 picture The Golden Child on Sunday at the 33rd annual Toronto International Picture Festival.
Murphy, who is in attendance at the festival to promote his upcoming film Dolemite Is My Name, made a stop by The Hollywood Reporter Studio at the St. Regis Hotel.
While there, he caught up with Jasmin L. Reate, who serves as the executive director of events for THR, and they posed for a photo together. The film was named after the character that Reate portrayed. (You read that correctly; the “boy” in the film was really portrayed by a woman.)

Reate reminisces on her time working with her old co-star and recalls, “He was exactly as lovely as I remembered him when I was 6.”
The main character of the movie was a private investigator by the name of Chandler Jarrell. He specialises in the search for missing children and is tasked with rescuing “The Golden Child,” who is said to be the one who will save humanity.
Charles Dance, who later went on to play a variety of film and television roles, most notably Tywin Lannister in HBO’s Game of Thrones, was also a member of the cast.

In the meantime, Dolemite stars Cillian Murphy in the role of real-life comic Rudy Ray Moore, who rose to stardom in midlife thanks to his role as Dolemite in the Blaxploitation films of the 1970s.
The film was directed by Craig Brewer (Hustle & Flow), and it had an ensemble cast that included, amongst others, Keegan-Michael Key, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess, Snoop Dogg, Ron Cephas Jones, and Wesley Snipes.
The brands St. Regis, MAC, and Martell have given the THR Studio a lot of help.
