A motorist killed a 63-year-old Mt. San Antonio College staffer on campus Thursday morning. Sheriff’s Lt. Patricia Thomas said the early inquiry revealed intent. She stated the unarrested motorist was injured and hospitalized.
Unaware of His Injuries
Deputies discovered the wounded man lifeless after receiving a report at 7:30 a.m. He perished. The college authorities recognised him before the coroner.
“It is with great sadness that I tell the Mt. San Antonio College community that Ralph Barragan, one of the brightest lights on campus, has died,” said Mt. SAC President William T. Scroggins.

He reported that a vehicle hit Barragan outside Building 9A. “This is our campus’s most sad scenario.” Scroggins expressed his sympathies to Ralph’s family and friends.
The college community is heartbroken. “A campus fatality impacts us all,” he remarked.
Scroggins claimed Barragan drove Metropolitan Transportation Authority buses for 23 years before Mt. SAC. He also drove Access trams in 2007.
He transported disabled pupils throughout the institution. Scroggins said Ralph was well-known, courteous, and respected on campus.
Student Services VP Audrey Yamagata-Noji hired Barragan
“Everyone knew Ralph.” He constantly smiled, called employees and pupils by name, and made friends with everyone. We’re heartbroken. Yamagata-Noji stated that he will be remembered but not forgotten.
Access was closed Thursday and Friday. Scroggins said ACCESS phone lines are being answered, and substitute drivers help kids.
