According to authorities, a shooting and pursuit with deputies in Rockwall County resulted in the death of the suspect.
The Collin County Sheriff’s Office reported on Wednesday, Nov. 1, that as deputies were attempting to pull over an SUV on Interstate 30 close to Rowlett, the suspect broke free and started shooting.
According to the Rockwall County Sheriff’s Office, the chase came to a stop just before 3:45 p.m. near the Dalrock Road exit on westbound I-30 as deputies returned fire with the lone suspect.
After being hit, the suspect was taken to a nearby hospital and eventually declared dead. The Rockwall and Collin County sheriff’s offices both claim that no deputies were hurt in the incident and no reports of innocent bystanders being hurt either.
The suspect’s identity has not been made public.
As multiple law enforcement agencies responded, the WFAA helicopter circled above the scene. The Texas Rangers will look into the event.

The westbound lanes on I-30 from Horizon Road to the Dalrock exit are now closed due to construction. According to authorities, there is an additional disruption in the southbound lanes at Dalrock and Sunset Boulevard.
The time of the lanes’ reopening is unknown.
