Delonte West, A Former NBA Player, Was Detained In Virginia

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VIRGINIA – Fairfax County police arrested former NBA star Delonte West in Alexandria over the weekend.

Officers discovered West, 39, in the 7400 block of Fordson Road on Saturday evening. Where he was allegedly drunk and trespassing in a vehicle.

West fled as they attempted to handcuff the embattled Washington, D.C. native.

He has apprehended a short distance away, according to police.

West is charged with four offenses: vehicle trespassing, fleeing law enforcement and being drunk in public.

Before attending St. Joseph’s University, the former point guard attended Eleanor Roosevelt High School in Greenbelt, Maryland. During his NBA career, he played for the Boston Celtics, the Seattle SuperSonics, the Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Dallas Mavericks, as well as overseas.

West has been arrested several times since his basketball career ended. In 2020, he was filmed being assaulted on the street in the D.C. area. He later checked into a rehab facility but was arrested shortly after being released for being drunk in public in Florida.

West had a tryout with the Big3 basketball league earlier this year and worked with a flooring company in June, according to TMZ.

According to the outlet, the company was pleased with West’s performance.
