Deadly Crash on Highway 20 in Ebro: Two Killed, Three Hurt in Four-Car Pileup

A four-car pileup on Highway 20 has killed two people and injured three more.

It happened shortly before 5:00 p.m. on Monday night, just west of Ebro.

A 25-year-old Panama City lady and her eight-month-old daughter were killed in a tragic car accident Monday afternoon.

Lieutenant Jason King of the Florida Highway Patrol said, “It just kind of hits home for us and our guys and girls. Here with the sheriff’s office and the Florida Highway Patrol kind of dig in a little bit deeper to give a little bit more effort on our investigation.”

The collision occurred at 4:45 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 20 and Strickland Road.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, a Nissan driver was making a left turn onto Strickland Road.

“Behind that was a Ford Focus which had stopped to wait for them to execute their turn,” he claimed.

The Panama City woman and her child were the focus. They were suddenly hit from behind.

“A red pickup truck traveling to the rear of that crashed into the back of the silver Ford Focus and crashed into the Nissan,” he claimed.

The truck and Nissan then crossed into the eastbound lane.

“Unfortunately there was also a fourth car that was traveling eastbound on 20 as they entered the intersection was involved in the crash,” he said.

The mother and newborn were slain on the scene.

Paramedics brought the Nissan drivers and the fourth car, a Hyundai, to Bay Medical for treatment of their injuries.

The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the collision.

That segment of Highway 20 was closed for four hours.

It reopened at 9:00 p.m. on Monday night.
