With boosters of all COVID-19 vaccines in the U.S. now approved, vaccination sites during California have started offering additional doses to shore up vaccination toward the virus.
Last week, the CDC consulting committee verified boosters for Moderna and Johnson & Johnson vaccines.
Despite their initial type, they stated people could “mix and match” when taking the new dose. Boosters for Pfizer’s vaccine had earlier got confirmed.
All three vaccines proceed to give strong protection toward hospitalizations and death from COVID-19, and health officials believe boosters will give more protection. Here are all updates that we know so far.
Eligibility Criteria For COVID Vaccine Booster Shot
For both Pfizer and Moderna, a booster shot is available for those who got their second shot at least six months ago and come into any of these classes:
- Are 65 years old or older
- Being in a long-term care environment
- Have underlying medical situations
- Work or exist in high-risk contexts
- Are at enhanced risk because of social inequity
For Johnson & Johnson, a booster dose is advised if you:
- Take your initial dose of the Johnson & Johnson vaccine at least two months before, and
- Are 18 years old or older
When to take the booster dose?
Booster shots are approved for a particular time span, and people are recommended to take them as quickly as they’re eligible to support healthy immunity against Corona Virus.
For Pfizer and Moderna beneficiaries: booster doses must be provided at least six months after taking the second shot. For Johnson & Johnson beneficiaries: booster shots must be given at least two months later.
How To Get COVID Vaccine Booster Shot?
Health care providers, hospitals, and pharmacies during the state are managing the extra dose. While at this time, appointments aren’t required at many vaccination sites, Californians can visit govt. The site to get an interview or find a nearby walk-in vaccine hospital.
