Courteney Cox Claims She Sold Her LA Home After UPS Driver Said It Was Haunted

During her tenure on Friends, Courteney Cox was Scully, but she became a Mulder after that. According to CinemaBlend, she recently revealed that she recently experienced a paranormal encounter of a third kind in her old Los Angeles home, where she had her Scream-esque horror-comedy run.

In an interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live, according to Courteney Cox, she sold her house in Los Angeles after learning it was haunted by ghostly apparitions that were definitely not Friends-like. Guess what? Part of the credit goes to legendary musician Carole King. As Courtney Cox explained:

So Carole King came over to my house and she said there had been a divorce that was really ugly, and there was a ghost in the house. And I was like, ‘Yeah, whatever.’ But other people who had stayed there with me — friends of mine — said they had an encounter with a woman who was sitting on the edge of the bed.

That’s creepy, isn’t it? Unlike the leading actor of a major horror franchise such as Scream, one would expect him to be a bit more open to scarier things, even if that horror franchise was not paranormal in nature.

Carole King warned Courteney Cox that the home she had lived in before she was born was haunted, but she allowed her to conduct a seance. Carole King’s candlelit visions of communicating with the dead were insufficient to strike fear in Courteney Cox. It would have taken a UPS driver to accomplish that. She explained:

I was at the house one day, not being a believer. And the doorbell rang. It was a UPS guy or something, and I opened the door and he said, ‘Do you know this house is haunted? I go, ‘Yeah, why? Why do you think that?’ And he goes, ‘Because there’s someone standing behind you.’ And I was like, ‘Let’s sell!’

There’s either a great UPS driver or a lousy one there. According to Courteney Cox, she was unable to sleep there again, especially by herself, and she even began seeing supernatural things.

It can only be wished the whole thing could have been attributed to a prank by Matt LeBlanc. Despite Jimmy Kimmel’s assurances that ghosts aren’t real, Cox remained firm.

Courteney Cox might or might not have been haunted by her old house, but will have to contend with another ghost in her new horror-comedy series Shining Vale. In the film, she plays author Patricia ‘Pat’ Phelps, a divorced mother of a teen son and an estranged husband (Greg Kinnear). However, there is one problem. Ghost of Rosemary (Mira Sorvino) haunts the house. There’s sure to be a scream – and maybe Carole King will sing “It’s Too Late”.

Starz will premiere Shining Vale on Sunday, March 6, 2022. Meanwhile, you can watch Courteney Cox (sans her Scream 3 bangs) on old episodes of Friends via HBO Max subscription. There are also some upcoming TV releases that will help fill the Friends-shaped void.
