Jaime Soto, a convicted child s*x offender and one of Colorado’s most wanted s*x offenders, was apprehended in California on Monday, according to the United States Marshals Service.
Soto, 43, was wanted on a felony arrest warrant for charges arising from a 2021 conviction for attempted s*xual assault on a child, among other things.
In addition, he was wanted in Denver for failing to register as a s*x offender. He was apparently ranked seventh on the Colorado Bureau of Investigation’s top ten most wanted s*x offenders list.
Soto Fled To Nevada And Then To California With His Girlfriend And Her Child
On December 28, 2022, police in Thornton, Colorado, sought to arrest Soto but discovered he had fled the state and was in Las Vegas.
Investigators from the United States Marshals Colorado Violent Offender Task Force, Nevada Fugitive Investigative Strike Team, and Pacific Southwest Regional Fugitive Task Force narrowed in on a possible location for Soto, his girlfriend, and her 6-year-old child, who were seen leaving Nevada and traveling into California.
Investigators said they identified Soto and arrested him without incident when the car stopped at a gas station in Baker, California.

Soto Has A Long Criminal History In Colorado
Soto is now being held in a California jail awaiting an extradition hearing in order to be returned to Colorado for trial.
Soto has an extensive history of criminal prosecutions and convictions in Colorado dating back to 1999, including theft, driving on a suspended license, drug charges, forgery, impersonation, harassment, domestic abuse, and other offenses.
In 2021, the Denver Police Department uploaded a photo of Soto “in an effort to increase the community’s awareness, and out of concern for everyone’s safety,” labeling him a “sexually violent predator.”
