Dogs, cats, rabbits, and potbelly pigs will not be sold in pet businesses in Clark County as of Wednesday.
About a year ago, the Clark County Commissioners established a law prohibiting the selling of small animals in shops. It became operative on December 20th.
The goal of the regulation is to stop the illegal breeding of dogs and to clean up the local animal shelters, the majority of which are constantly overflowing with stray and abandoned dogs and cats.

Now, each pet story in the county has a year to make the required adjustments. Some tell FOX5 that in order to offset the drop in revenue from live animal sales, they have increased retail sales and increased grooming services.
“It’ll probably impact us a bit, but we’ll definitely be able to keep pushing through versus other places that are probably going to sink faster than we will just because we do have a lot of the money income is coming from grooming,” a shop owner informed us.
Commissioner Michael Naft was the one who supported the bill. According to him, the County is willing to assist with any animals that shopkeepers may still have in their establishments.

According to Naft, it will assist in placing them through the NSPCA or nearby shelters.
