City Hall in Chicago will be closed to the public for the majority of Friday for an active shooter drill.
The drill will take place between 10 and 11 a.m. at 121 N. LaSalle St., which will be closed from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m.
The Office of Emergency Management and Communications said the building’s county side will stay open.
Some walkways and streets will be closed:
- From 7 am to 1 pm, LaSalle Street between Washington and Randolph will be blocked.
- The West side sidewalk on LaSalle will be closed to pedestrians.
- Wells Street will be blocked between Washington and Court Place.
Chicago police, fire, and OEMC personnel are all participating in the drill.
According to a statement from OEMC, the exercise is being undertaken to improve readiness and increase capabilities throughout the city before, during, and after an actual threat of terrorism.
