WLS-TV in Chicago reports After months of refusing to leave. An accused squatter has finally left a South Side home.
Danielle Cruz contacted ABC7 I-Samantha Team’s Chatman. After a woman, she had never met moved into her Chatham home and refused to leave.
Cruz stated that after nearly five months of being locked out of her home, the stranger who moved in finally decided to leave.
Cruz became known as the I-Team in May after discovering a girl had moved into her South Side property.
The woman inside claimed she was a victim of a scam and that she signed a lease and paid someone hundreds of dollars to stay there.
On the other hand, Cruz stated she did not lease her home to the lady and had never met her before.
Cruz eventually filed an eviction order against the lady inside, Trineka Stevenson, after she refused to leave.
Cruz stated that after our previous story about the eviction aired. She received news from a neighbor who informed her that the lady was seen shifting out of the property.
“There are a lot of emotions,” Cruz said. “We didn’t know what we’d find in the house. But it wasn’t too bad.”
Cruz stated that she appears to have left for good and that he is relieved to have her back.
“I’m not sure where I’d be if I hadn’t reached out to you guys.” So I’m grateful to you,” Cruz added.
Cruz stated the eviction process filling was dismissed in court because Stevenson left on her own.
Cruz also stated that she and her husband had installed cameras on the property. They are reminding other owners to keep a close eye on their property so that this does not happen to them.
