Chicago Resident Charged in Lake County Pregnant Woman’s Death
The body of a pregnant woman was discovered on the side of the road in the north suburban area of Lake County a month ago. A man from Chicago has been charged in connection with the killing of the woman.
As a result of the murder of Megan Lewis, who was 39 years old, Juan Vega-Montoya, who is 37 years old, is being charged with concealing a homicidal death.
She was 16 weeks pregnant at the time of her death, and an autopsy later confirmed that she had been strangled.
Her body was discovered on November 29 along Hunt Club Road, which is located south of Route 173 in unincorporated Lake County, close to Wadsworth. There, her body was discovered.

Detectives with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office came to the conclusion that Vega-Montoya had picked up Lewis in Chicago on November 26 and then strangled her during an altercation.
After that, he drove home and left her body in his car for two days before dumping her on the side of Hunt Club Road on November 28.

It was discovered by officials from the sheriff’s office that the actual homicide took place in Chicago. They have now handed over all of the evidence to the Chicago Police Department in order to pursue charges of murder.
Wednesday was the day when Vega-Montoya was scheduled to make his initial court appearance to be held in Lake County. Prosecutors will want to have him held as he waits for his trial, according to officials from the sheriff’s office.
