Chicago Hit-and-Run: 1 Killed, Wheelchair-Bound Man Seriously Injured While Crossing South Ashland Avenue

A hit-and-run on the South Side Thursday killed one person and critically injured another.

Chicago police reported a northbound 2007 Chevrolet SUV struck a man wheeling a 56-year-old in a wheelchair in the 9400-block of S. Ashland Avenue at 6:20 p.m.

He drove off.

Serious injuries sent the wheelchair-bound guy to Christ Hospital. The pusher died on the spot.

The Major Accidents unit and police are searching for the motorist.
