Cheboygan Sheriff’s Department Announces New Snowmobile Safety Course
In accordance with Michigan law, the Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Department has announced a free snowmobile safety course for this winter.
This action is in reaction to a state law that mandates snowmobile operators between the ages of 12 and 16 complete an authorized safety course before they are permitted to run unsupervised or traverse public roads.
Information About The Class And Registration
Students must attend the safety lesson on February 13 and 14 from 5 to 8 p.m. on both days in order to get a certificate. In addition to providing theoretical information, this course includes a written test to make sure the safety precautions are understood in practice.
A snowmobile safety certificate, which is required by Michigan law for young snowmobile operators, will be given to successful participants.
Where It Is And How To Get There
The course will be held in the Commissioner’s Room at the Cheboygan County facility to make it convenient for participants. To make identification more accessible, a snowmobile or patrol car in a parked position will clearly indicate the entry.
The lesson is open to students of all ages, even though attendance is required to be at least 12 years old. In order to promote a deeper awareness of snowmobile safety in the community, parents and adults are also welcome to enroll in the training.
