This moves Chicago one step closer to its next mayoral race.
On Monday, prospective candidates can submit their paperwork to run for the fifth-floor office in City Hall.
There is a massive pool of potential candidates to choose from.
So far, fourteen people have declared their candidacy, and that number includes Mayor Lori Lightfoot.
To qualify for the ballot, mayoral, city clerk, and city treasurer candidates must collect at least 12,500 signatures.
The deadline for petitions is November 28.
Tuesday, February 28th, is the election.
