According to cops in Los Angeles, California, a man shot and injured a person when confronted for beating a dog.
A charge of attempted murder has been filed against Saalih Mousa, 21, according to a KTTV report.
LawandCrime reported two people walking near the Poinsettia Recreation Center to have spotted Mousa beating a dog on an apartment balcony, police said.
“The witnesses yelled at the suspect to let go of the dog,” LAPD stated.
“The suspect argued back, then produced an unknown type firearm and shot at the witnesses, striking one.”
It has been reported that the person shot is in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.
Initially, Mossa allegedly fled the scene. He is now being held in lieu of $1 million bails, police disclosed.
The girlfriend of the accused, Athena Mansour, 20, was arrested, initially charged with being an accessory after the fact. Initially, she was being held on $500,000 bail, but prosecutors eventually decided not to pursue a criminal case against her. On Thursday, officers announced she was released.
Cash and Dinero, two French bulldogs, were found at the scene by police.
According to police, they were released to a responsible party tied to Mansour.
