Biden Administration Address Home Energy Cost With State-by-State Funding Announcement

Energy is a necessity, not a luxury. That’s why the Biden-Harris Administration and Congressional Democrats prioritized funding for the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) in the American Rescue Plan.

But now, as winter approaches, Americans are facing record-high energy costs—and many families are struggling to pay their heating bills. That’s why Biden and Harris have been working closely with state and local leaders to help families pay their energy bills this winter.

Toward that goal, on Friday, the Biden-Harris Administration announced a state-by-state breakdown of funding for the program—thanks to additional funding by the American Rescue Plan. This winter, states will receive an estimated $2.2 billion in LIHEAP funding through this package.

This new funding was made possible by the American Rescue Plan and represents the largest grant in a single year since the LIHEAP program was established in 1981.

Now as far as allocation is concerned, the Biden Administration took matters into its own hands to distribute all the resources swiftly and equitably to the U.S. States by the time winter arrives in the country.
