AWS Goes Down, Taking a Large Portion of the Internet Offline.

The Amazon Web Services (AWS) outage that hit the internet Tuesday morning has left a large portion of the internet dependent on its services. The outage was still impacting sites throughout Tuesday afternoon, but Amazon claimed to be beginning to see indications of recovery.

The AWS Management Console was experiencing increased error rates, according to the company’s health service dashboard at 11:22 a.m. The firm is “investigating” the problem, referred to as an “error rate increase.”

“We are experiencing API and console issues in the US-EAST-1 Region. We have identified the root cause, and we are actively working towards recovery,” AWS said in the message.

Amazon stated that the cause was a network device impairment, and it was working to address the problem.
