Arrest Made 16-Year-Old Linked to Alleged Armed Robbery in Allegheny County

Allegheny County authorities have charged a 16-year-old boy in relation to an armed robbery.

James Beasley, 16, is charged with a number of offenses, including robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, according to a news release issued by the Allegheny County Police Department on Monday. This is an adult charge against him.

According to Allegheny County police, at about 1:00 PM on Monday, officers were called to Hays Avenue in Mount Oliver in response to a report of an armed robbery.

Allegheny County police are still looking to identify three other suspects:

The victim, according to the police, came to the region to sell a specially made computer. Facebook Marketplace was used for the computer’s sale.

The victim reported to the police that three individuals showed up at the sale place, showed a gun, and took the computer.

Allegheny County police reported that throughout the course of the armed robbery investigation, officers observed several people who fit the descriptions of suspects from both the earlier armed robbery in the neighborhood and the one that happened on Mount Oliver.

According to the police, Beasley was brought into jail after a foot pursuit started when they approached the people. Beasley allegedly showed the gun during the armed robbery, according to Allegheny County police.

Police reported that they found the stolen computer during a check of his residence. Police stated that no charges have been made as of yet against the second person, a male teenager who had been taken into custody and then released.

Three more individuals are still being sought after by Allegheny County police. Call the county police tip line at 1-833-ALL-TIPS if you have any information.

“We also want to remind everyone to use caution when purchasing items via social media. Always choose a safe and secure location to complete these transactions and do not travel alone,”  the police posted on Facebook.
