Tuesday around 4:30 p.m., a Stone County sheriff’s deputy was shot and killed while performing his duties. According to the Arkansas State Police (ASP), a suspect is being held.
Brandon Long, the Stone County sheriff, is requesting that “prayers be lifted for family, friends, and colleagues of the fallen officer.” ASP Col. Mike Hagar states that details on the event will be made public as they become available.
“We ask that members of the media please give Sheriff Long and the Stone community the time and space they need to process this devastating moment,” Hagar stated. “Let us all give the Stone County Sheriff’s Office our steadfast support.”
The victim’s identity and the suspect’s have not yet been made public by either the ASP or the Stone County Sheriff’s Office.
