The Arizona National Guard is supporting with shots in Maricopa County prisons. Correctional Health Services has partnered as Tuesday with “a group of Army Guard Medics helps to determine Corona Virus vaccines, boosters, and flu doses to high-risk victims,” county spokes guy Fields Moseley stated.
Moseley said the Arizona Republic was a short, “collaborative venture” supposed to last three weeks. “The aim is to increase the number of Corona Virus and flu vaccinations in patients before the height of flu season and respond to the city,” he stated.
A petition addressed to the County’s Emergency Management Department on Oct. 22 said, “Maricopa County Correctional Health Services is asking 2-5 doctors every day M-F. Start date TBD till 12/15/21 to help in COVID-19 shots.”
The request stated the medics would deliver Moderna or Janssen vaccines. “This would be at all six MCSO tools on a rotating base.”
The request appears on the heels of a new separate application from the Sheriff’s Office for 135 National Guard companies because of staffing deficiencies at the Sheriff’s Office.
The Sheriff’s Office canceled the offer, but it stated it is yet looking at ways to use National Guard companies in the prisons.
