Early Thursday morning, the Lake County coroner’s office received a report that a woman had died on the factory floor of a company in the north suburb of Gurnee. The office said Leily Lopez-Hernandez, 29, was hurt at around 1 a.m. while cleaning a building in the 1900 block of Swanson Court.
The office stated that the autopsy revealed Lopez-Hernandez died from blunt force and crushing injuries but did not specify how she sustained such injuries. Authorities from the Occupational Safety and Health Administration and the Gurnee Police Department were looking into the matter.
In the early hours of Thursday morning, the Gurnee Fire Department and the Gurnee Police Department were dispatched to the 1900 block of Swanson Court. In an interview with Lake and McHenry County Scanner, Shawn Gaylor, a public information officer for the Gurnee Police Department, said that officers were summoned to help the fire department investigate a death.

Lopez-Hernandez was killed after she was “impacted by a large piece of equipment” while cleaning, as stated by Gaylor. Chief Deputy Coroner Steve Newton of Lake County speculated that the device was some sort of pizza oven conveyer.
