Earlier this week, the People’s Caravan, a truck convoy protesting COVID-19 regulations that began in Southern California and have delayed traffic in Washington, D.C., was snarled by a lone bicyclist on Saturday.
Zachary Petrizzo, a reporter for the Daily Beast, released two videos of the incident. The first portrays the biker taking up the full lane while the vehicles behind him honk their horns emphatically in response.
The second video shows someone, whom the Daily Beast describes as a “convoy live streamer,” driving up alongside the biker and saying, “Get off my lawn!” “Hey, what are you up to these days? You’re being pursued by a large number of trucks.”
It is unclear how long the bicycle was able to maintain its position and slow down the truck convoy. As of Monday morning, the initial video of the event had gained more than 7 million views on Twitter.
The People’s Convoy has been in Washington, D.C., for more than two weeks, and it has witnessed a number of noteworthy events in the last few days.
Additionally, on Saturday, a convoy leader expressed dissatisfaction with other truckers after a few drivers allegedly boxed in a white Tesla after the Tesla driver allegedly rushed in front of vehicles and slammed on the brakes.
According to an article published last week by Vice, truckers are increasingly claiming drivers who cut them off from being Antifa, an umbrella term for far-left militant groups that combat right-wing parties at demonstrations and other events.
The People’s Convoy was the first big truck convoy to leave California, and it was the first of its kind. The second, called “Freedom Convoy USA 2022,” fizzled out, eliciting resentment from interested drivers on social media platforms.
