On Friday night, a man convicted of six previous crimes is accused of boarding a CTA bus while carrying a long gun. Around 9:30 p.m., police in Chicago received a report of a person boarding a bus while carrying a long rifle.
Assistant State’s Attorney Michael Bagnowski claimed they stopped the bus in the 3200 block of West Chicago and located a passenger who matched the description of the individual who allegedly possessed a firearm.
Shortly after beginning their conversation with 42-year-old Jose Mora, police noticed that he was toting a blue bag that seemed to hold a firearm. Bagnowski claimed the weapon inside the bag had a 6-inch barrel and was made by Mossberg International. Police say they also found a loaded extended ammo magazine in the backpack.
Mora has to pay a $15,000 bail deposit to go home
According to an assistant public defender, Mora has been married for 19 years and has four kids. The attorney claimed that his client was employed full-time in a restaurant kitchen. Mora was released after posting a $15,000 bond, as ordered by Judge Mary Marubio.
