A Boy of 19, Arrested in California for a Fake Parking Ticket Scam

Last week, a 19-year-old guy in Northern California allegedly created false parking fines and placed them on vehicles near the beach, hoping to receive actual money. Santa Cruz police said a guy tacked fake tickets onto vehicles late on Wednesday night. The notices featured a QR code directing fine payers to a fraudulent website.

The number of cars that were issued fraudulent tickets or the number of people who paid them is unknown. On Thursday afternoon, police arrested a guy suspected of fraud and illegal computer use. He claimed he hadn’t received any money. Santa Cruz, a beachside city, can be found around 88.51 km south of San Francisco.
