A 17-year-old suspect charged as an adult for a fatal shooting on Interstate 70

THE MOUNTAIN CITY (KDVR) — The teen suspect in the tragic shooting on July 31 on Interstate 70 is now being charged as an adult in the case.

Jameel James is charged with murder for the shooting death of 31-year-old Kevin Piaskowski. On August 3, the coroner ruled Piaskowski’s death a homicide after discovering he had been shot.

On August 12, Denver police apprehended James.

Authorities have released surveillance footage from the horrific shooting on I-70.

James has been charged with one crime of first-degree murder, one count of auto theft, one count of breaking gun-related probation conditions, and one count of possessing a firearm while under 18.
