A school resource officer at West Chicago High School was alerted on Wednesday after a student was reported to have shown a firearm on campus.
Officials said that a 14-year-old showed off a tan Glock pistol he had been carrying on his belt while using the restroom during the last hour of class.

Officials said they tracked down the boy to his residence, where he was still holding the firearm. After that, he was transported to the West Chicago Police Department for interrogation.
The minor was arrested on many counts. They include school-related aggravated illegal use of a weapon and underage aggravated unlawful use of a weapon.
He was also charged on account of the possession of a firearm by a minor under the age of 18.
