Authorities say an 84-year-old man killed his wife in their Lower Pottsgrove Township home and is now being charged with multiple murders.
According to the Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Barton Seltmann was arrested on November 28 after police were called to a home on North Keim Road to find a woman who was “not responding.”
Barton’s 85-year-old wife, Margaret Seltmann, was found “obviously deceased” inside the house, according to the prosecutors. Barton, on the other hand, had blood on his face, hands, and clothes.

The prosecutor’s office said he was taken to the hospital for treatment of a hand injury. Law enforcement reports say Barton told them that he and his wife were fighting about how to pay for their cat’s veterinary care when he saw Margaret pull out a knife and threaten to kill him.
Authorities say Barton pushed a chair at his wife and hit her with his fist and other things after she hit her head and fell to the ground, according to the lawsuit.

The police found a small kitchen knife and pieces of a broken candle jar under Margaret’s body while they were looking into what happened at the villa.
Seltmann died from blunt force injuries, according to an exam done by the Montgomery County Coroner’s Office.
After being caught, Barton Setlmann was sent to the Montgomery County Correctional Facility and charged with first-degree murder and third-degree murder. From what I can tell, his next court date is December 5, 2023.
