Eight people were arrested for a burglary ring operating in three states, and the crime ring worked for over two years.

A tri-state burglary ring, defrauding investors of millions, has been busted. 8 individuals, all members of the same family, were arrested this week for membership to the organization.

These individuals stole money from more than 100 investors throughout two years through a cybercrime scheme that included hacking into small businesses’ computer networks.

The crime syndicate perpetrated similar crimes in three other states: Macoupin, Jersey, and Madison.

The crimes they participated in ranged from stealing personal information to then putting together fraudulent documents that would allow them to steal money out of bank accounts.

Tri-county burglary ring in Metro East Latest News

At least eight arrests have been made for a burglary ring in three counties in the Metro East region. The burglars allegedly targeted homes and businesses, stealing cash and valuables.

The arrests in the tri-county area were made by the FBI, several police agencies, and the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Most of the suspects arrested were from south St. Louis County, said Sgt. Bill Stringer of St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

“They’re familiar with that section,” Stringer said, “so they target those homes.”

The suspects are accused of breaking into at least seven homes and businesses between February and June in a place where they knew the owners would be gone during the day, Stringer said Thursday evening during a news conference at the FBI’s office in Grandview Heights.

Eleven handguns, two rifles, two shotguns, and several electronic items were seized Thursday during St. Charles County and St. Louis County arrests.

The suspects face federal charges of conspiracy to burglarize homes and steal firearms. They also face state charges related to the burglaries, Stringer said.

Stringer said that the burglars would be held in the St. Charles County Jail until they are deported to federal custody.

Madison County Sheriff’s Office

The Sheriff’s Office was examined in collaboration with the Sheriff’s Executive Team Unit.
