A three-story commercial building in downtown Los Angeles was completely destroyed by a large fire that was fought by firefighters on Wednesday night. The boarded-up structure was located close to the crossroads of Los Angeles and Third Streets, and flames ripped through its roof. According to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the fire started shortly after 7:30 p.m.
After the majority of the flames were put out an hour later, smoke was seen coming from the structure. It is unknown what caused the fire. There were no early reports of injuries. The fire was fought by about 135 firemen. The structure had a red tag on it. According to LAFD, a knockdown will not be officially announced until Thursday morning.
