A tragic shooting has occurred at Mentor Green Mobile Home Park in Willoughby and police from several Lake County cities are on the scene.
According to a Mentor spokeswoman, three individuals have died and one has been transferred to a nearby hospital. The suspect barricaded himself inside a trailer, but was later discovered dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
“Basically, they tried to make contact with him and, you know, they didn’t hear back,” Mentor Public Information Officer Ante Logarusic told 3News. “And then eventually, of course, they took their time and they found him deceased.”

The incident prompted an hours-long standoff before the suspect’s body was discovered. Mentor Avenue is closed from Kirtland Road to State Route 306 in Mentor, according to the Willoughby Police Department. Drivers are advised to avoid the area.
According to residents, Mentor Green Mobile Home Park is a 55-and-up neighborhood, and those who were still on the property at the time of the shooting were evacuated to the Mentor Senior Center. At this point, neither the victims’ nor the suspect’s names have been disclosed.
“I have a lot of friends who live there and I don’t know if any of them are hurt or dead, and that’s what worries me,” Larry Morrow, who’s lived at the complex for 23 years, said. “It’s normally a quiet place. There’s never any problem there.”
The incident is being investigated by law enforcement and the Ohio BCI. An update will be provided on Friday morning.
